Gonzalo Pizarro

Gonzalo Pizarro, born in 1502, was a notable Spanish explorer and conquistador, recognized for his adventurous spirit and familial ties to the Pizarro legacy. As the younger paternal half-brother of the infamous Francisco Pizarro, who spearheaded the conquest of the Inca Empire, Gonzalo's life was intricately woven into the fabric of Spanish exploration in the Americas.

He was the illegitimate son of Gonzalo Pizarro y Rodríguez de Aguilar, a distinguished infantry colonel who served under the renowned Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba during the Italian Wars. This lineage not only shaped his identity but also set the stage for his own ventures in the New World.

In addition to his relationship with Francisco, Gonzalo was also the younger half-brother of Hernándo Pizarro y de Vargas and the older full brother of Juan Pizarro y Alonso. These familial connections played a significant role in his endeavors, as the Pizarro family was deeply involved in the conquests and colonization efforts of the time.
