Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Huvishka

Huvishka, born in Peshawar, Pakistan, ascended to the throne as the emperor of the Kushan Empire following the death of Kanishka around one hundred and fifty CE. His reign, which lasted for approximately thirty years, marked a significant period of consolidation for the empire, extending its influence across a vast territory.

Under Huvishka's leadership, the Kushan Empire flourished, encompassing regions from Balkh in Bactria to Mathura in India. This era was characterized by relative peace, allowing for the strengthening of Kushan power in northern India. Notably, Huvishka moved the center of the empire to the southern capital city of Mathura, a strategic decision that facilitated further expansion.

Huvishka's legacy is also evident in the coinage minted during his reign, with gold coins and amulets bearing his effigy discovered as far as Pataliputra and Bodh Gaya. One such amulet was found as an offering beneath the Enlightenment Throne of the Buddha in Bodh Gaya, indicating the far-reaching influence of Kushan rule and its cultural significance in the region.
