Hyeonjong of Joseon, born Yi Yeon on February fourth, sixteen forty-one, ascended to the throne as the eighteenth monarch of the Joseon dynasty. His reign, which lasted until September seventeenth, sixteen seventy-four, was characterized by significant political strife, particularly among the various factions vying for power within the kingdom.
