Madeleine of Valois

Madeleine of Valois, born on August tenth, fifteen twenty, was a French princess whose life was marked by a brief yet significant chapter as Queen of Scotland. In January fifteen thirty-seven, she married King James V of Scotland at Notre-Dame de Paris, a union arranged in accordance with the Treaty of Rouen. Despite the marriage being celebrated, there were underlying concerns regarding her health, which had begun to decline.

Her reign as queen was tragically short-lived. Just six months after their wedding, Madeleine passed away in July fifteen thirty-seven, shortly after her arrival in Scotland. This untimely death led to her being affectionately remembered as the 'Summer Queen,' a title that reflects both her fleeting presence and the warmth she brought during her brief time on the throne.
