Maia Shibutani

Maia Shibutani, born on July twentieth, nineteen ninety-four, is a distinguished American ice dancer renowned for her remarkable achievements in the sport. Partnered with her brother, Alex Shibutani, Maia has carved a niche for herself in the world of figure skating, showcasing her talent on both national and international stages.

The Shibutani siblings have made history as two-time Olympic bronze medalists, having competed in the Winter Olympics of two thousand fourteen and two thousand eighteen. Their groundbreaking performance in two thousand eighteen marked them as the first ice dancers of Asian descent to earn Olympic medals, securing bronze in both the team figure skating and individual ice dancing events.

In addition to their Olympic success, Maia and Alex are celebrated for their impressive collection of accolades, including three World medals—silver in two thousand sixteen and bronze in two thousand eleven and two thousand seventeen. They are also the proud champions of the two thousand sixteen Four Continents and two-time U.S. national champions in two thousand sixteen and two thousand seventeen.

The Shibutani siblings have consistently demonstrated their prowess on the Grand Prix series, clinching six titles and standing on the podium at fourteen consecutive U.S. Championships across five levels, including eight as seniors. Their early career achievements include being the two thousand nine World Junior silver medalists and bronze medalists at the two thousand nine–ten JGP Final.
