Pōmare IV

Pōmare IV, born ʻAimata Pōmare IV Vahine-o-Punuateraʻitua on 28 February 1813, was a significant figure in the history of Tahiti, reigning as its queen from 1827 until her death in 1877. Her name, ʻAimata, translates to "eye-eater," a title rooted in an ancient custom where a ruler would consume the eye of a vanquished enemy, symbolizing power and dominance.
