Pōmare II

Pōmare II, born in 1782, ascended to the throne as the second king of Tahiti in 1791, following his installation by his father, Pōmare I. His reign began on February 13, 1791, at Tarahoi, marking the continuation of a significant lineage in Tahitian history.

During the early years of his rule, Pōmare II governed under regency from 1791 until 1803. This period was crucial for the consolidation of his power and the establishment of his authority over the islands.
