Princess Francisca of Brazil, born on August second, eighteen twenty-four, was a prominent figure in the aristocracy of the Empire of Brazil. As the daughter of Emperor Dom Pedro I, who also held the title of King Dom Pedro IV of Portugal, and his first wife, Maria Leopoldina of Habsburg, she was born into a lineage of significant historical importance.

Upon her marriage to François d’Orléans, the son of King Louis Philippe I of France, Francisca became the Princess of Joinville. This union not only solidified ties between Brazilian and French royalty but also enriched the cultural tapestry of both nations.

The couple welcomed three children into their family, further extending their royal lineage. Notably, through their eldest daughter, Francisca and François became the ancestors of Jean, Count of Paris, who is recognized as the current Orléanist pretender to the French throne.
