Sanchia of Provence

Sanchia of Provence, born in the year 1225, was an illustrious aristocrat who captured the hearts of many with her remarkable beauty. As the third daughter of Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Provence, and Beatrice of Savoy, she was destined for a life of prominence and influence.

In 1243, Sanchia married Richard, who was then an English prince and the Earl of Cornwall. Their union was not only a personal bond but also a strategic alliance that would elevate her status in the realm. Sanchia's life took a significant turn when Richard was elected King of the Romans, leading to her coronation alongside him at Aachen Cathedral in 1257.

Queen Sanchia's reign, however, was tragically short-lived. She passed away in 1261 at the age of approximately thirty-six, leaving behind a legacy marked by her grace and the pivotal role she played as queen. Her life story remains a testament to the power and influence of noble women in the medieval period.
