Sancho I of Pamplona

Sancho Garcés I, known as Sancho I, was born around the year eight hundred seventy-five and became a prominent figure in the history of Pamplona. As the son of García Jiménez, he emerged as the first king of Pamplona from the Jiménez dynasty, a lineage that would play a significant role in the region's governance.

Ascending to the throne in nine hundred five, Sancho I ruled until his death in nine hundred twenty-five. His reign marked a pivotal period for the kingdom, as he was chosen by the Pamplonese nobility to succeed Fortún Garcés. This selection underscored his influence and the trust placed in him by the local aristocracy.

Sancho I was not only a ruler but also a feudal lord of the Onsella valley. His leadership was characterized by an expansion of power, as he sought to extend his influence over neighboring territories. This ambition helped to solidify the Jiménez dynasty's position in the region and laid the groundwork for future rulers.
