Sancho VII of Navarre

Sancho VII of Navarre, known as the Strong, was born around the year 1157 and ascended to the throne in 1194. He ruled as King of Navarre until his death on April 7, 1234. As the son and heir of Sancho VI, he became the second king to hold the title, continuing the legacy of the Jiménez dynasty that had governed the region since the ninth century.

During his reign, Sancho VII distinguished himself by adopting the chains of Navarre as his blazon. This emblem would later evolve into the principal symbol of Navarre, representing the strength and unity of his kingdom.
