Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Shah Rukh

Shah Rukh, born on the twentieth day of the eighth month in the year 1377, emerged as a prominent military leader and the ruler of the Timurid Empire from 1405 to 1447. He was the son of the renowned Central Asian conqueror Timur, who established the Timurid dynasty in 1370. Following his father's death, Shah Rukh governed the eastern territories of the empire, which included most of Persia and Transoxiana, while the western regions fell to invaders.

Despite the territorial losses, Shah Rukh's reign was marked by the maintenance of a cohesive and extensive dominion, solidifying his position as a dominant power in Asia. He skillfully controlled the vital trade routes connecting Asia and Europe, including the legendary Silk Road, which contributed to his immense wealth.

Unlike his father, who was known for his conquests, Shah Rukh chose to establish his capital in Herat rather than Samarqand. This decision transformed Herat into the political center of the Timurid Empire and the residence of his principal successors, while both cities thrived under the prosperity of Shah Rukh's court.

A great patron of the arts and sciences, Shah Rukh fostered a flourishing cultural environment during his rule. He dedicated his efforts to ensuring the stability of his lands and nurturing diplomatic and economic relations with neighboring kingdoms. Historians Thomas W. Lentz and Glenn D. Lowry have noted that Shah Rukh ruled not as a Turco-Mongol warlord, but as an Islamic sultan, characterized by his piety, diplomacy, and modesty, thus repairing much of the damage inflicted by his father's conquests.
