Uskhal Khan Tögüs Temür

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Uskhal Khan Tögüs Temür

Uskhal Khan Tögüs Temür, also known as the Tianyuan Emperor, was born on March seventh, thirteen forty-two, and became a significant figure in Mongolian history as the last powerful khagan of the Northern Yuan dynasty. He was the younger brother of Biligtü Khan and the son of Toghon Temür, the final Yuan emperor. Before ascending to the throne in thirteen seventy-eight, he held the noble title of Prince of Yi.

Upon the death of his brother Biligtü Khan, Tögüs Temür took the throne as Uskhal Khan. His reign was marked by military engagements with the Ming dynasty, particularly following the Ming court's participation in the funeral of Biligtü Khan. This event led to the release of Northern Yuan prince Maidarbal, who had been captured during the battle of Yingchang.

Uskhal Khan mobilized troops near Yingchang and Karakorum, continuing to challenge the Ming dynasty from the north. In retaliation, the Ming launched a significant attack in thirteen eighty, resulting in the sacking of Karakorum. Despite initial successes, including the invasion of Lulun city by his commanders, the Northern Yuan faced severe setbacks as the Ming army crushed their garrison in northern China.

In thirteen eighty-seven, Uskhal Khan encountered a dire situation when his ally Naghachu surrendered to the Ming due to famine. This shift in power dynamics forced Uskhal Khan to confront the Ming directly. In the following year, he was raided near Buir Lake and ultimately defeated on the Tuul River by Yesüder, a descendant of Ariq Böke, marking a significant decline in the Kublaid power and the rise of the Oirats on the Mongolian Plateau.
