Ashot II of Armenia

Ashot II of Armenia, known as Yerkat’ or the Iron, was a prominent figure in the history of Bagratid Armenia, reigning as king from nine hundred fourteen to nine hundred twenty-nine. He was the son of King Smbat I and ascended to the throne during a tumultuous period marked by internal strife and external threats.

Throughout his reign, Ashot faced numerous challenges, including rebellions from vassals and claims to the throne by pretenders. Despite these adversities, he demonstrated remarkable resilience and military prowess, successfully repelling foreign invasions that sought to undermine his rule.
